A native of Staten Island, New York, Robert F. Tyson Jr. is a Co-Founder and Consultant for Apex Defense Consulting (ADC), where he helps defense attorneys, insurance professionals, and corporations stop Nuclear Verdicts® through data-driven education, collaboration, and consulting. As one of the nation’s leading voices in the movement to combat outsized and unjust awards, he is dedicated to equipping the defense bar with the tools to defuse juror anger and restore fairness in the courtroom.
Mr. Tyson co-authored Nuclear Verdicts®: The Apex – Break the Pattern with fellow ADC Co-Founder Cayce Lynch. Building on his best-selling first book, Nuclear Verdicts®: Defending Justice for All, this new work introduces The Apex — a proven, data-based approach to mitigating anger and reversing the trend of escalating verdicts nationwide.
In addition to his leadership at ADC, Mr. Tyson is a Founding Partner of national insurance defense trial law firm Tyson & Mendes, where he continues to shape the future of defense litigation. His career includes landmark victories such as Howell v. Hamilton Meats, which changed California law and saved billions for insurers and defendants. He is also the Chief Business Development Officer at Schaefer City Technologies, an Insurtech company which leverages AI to identify Nuclear Verdicts® lurking in claims files before they happen.
